In May 2,2002 the Governorate of Ariana was honoured to welcome president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali who visited the region, attended the regional council’s extraordinary assembly and announced a series of developmental decisions such as the setting up of La Soukra and Raoued city councils.
La Soukra city council was set up by virtue of decree 756 -2003 dated February 24, 2003
The city council started its activities in June 2, 2003
An extraordinary council was designated by virtue of decree 974-2003 dated April 28, 2003
The city council was elected in October 19, 2003
The ministry of interior and local development opened la Soukra city hall in November 12, 2003

Emblem of the municipality of the Soukra

After the creation of the municipality of the Soukra, the town council wanted to put in epigraph the characteristics of the region through an emblem that illustrates the passed Soukra, its obtain current and the future aspirations of the inhabitants and this, through historic, environmental elements and homogenous economical that translate the ambitious projects of the counsel aiming the sustainable development of the Soukra.
